Ranjan is born and brought up in Udalguri, Assam. He completed his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry from Cotton University, Assam (2018) and moved to Tezpur University, Assam for M.Sc. in Chemistry (2020). In 2021, he joined the Molecular Magnetism Lab, IISER Bhopal as a Doctoral fellow. He received the prestigious PMRF fellowship in 2022. He enjoys soulful music besides traveling and playing cricket.

In MML, he is interested in exploring Photo-Switchable Single Molecule and Single Chain Magnets.
